Internet Resources for Higher Education Outcomes Assessment
A very comprehensive website of sample assessments for courses and skills, assessment handbooks published by various types of higher education institutions, and assessment listservs, discussion boards, etc.
Purdue Online Writing Lab
A thorough website on writing in the APA style and academic writing in general. Demonstrates citing a variety of information sources in footnotes, in-text citations, and bibliography.
Rubistar
A free online generator of rubrics. Site contains many existing rubrics to use and modify for your needs..

Google Drive/Docs
A cloud-based storage bank for electronic files-Word docs, Powerpoints, Mp3s, PDFs. Anyone with a Google account can get up to 5 GB of free storage. Also, any document can be converted/added to a web page with a few clicks. Eliminates the need to carry a flash drive with your lecture notes and PowerPoints.
Google Sites
Google Sites is an easy way to create web pages for intranets or class projects. You control what's public, and what's private. No coding or HTML required.
Prezi
A 'zooming' presentation editor, akin to PowerPoint, that allows users to add videos, PDF files, and Powerpoint slides. Works like a digital whiteboard.
Screen Cast-O-Matic
A free screencasting software-captures images/videos of a computer screen and allows users to add narration. Perfect for narrating a tutorial for a database, your syllabus, PowerPoints-virtually anything on your computer screen. Videos can be uploaded to YouTube for free or converted to an mp4 file.
Scribd
Scribd is a document-sharing website that allows users to post documents of various formats, and embed them into a web page using its iPaper format.
Slide Share
Offers users the ability to upload and share publicly or privately PowerPoint presentations, Word documents and Adobe PDF Portfolios. A good place to find existing PowerPoint presentations for introductory psychology & sociology lectures.
Open Source Textbooks
Open Course Library
Open Course Library is a provider of textbooks in many introductory level college courses, including psychology and sociology. Professors may download the content, make revisions to it, and have students purchase their package. The cost to students is no more than $30.
Open Stax Library
A completely free provider of scholarly, open source textbooks. Students may read the textbook online, download a PDF version, or order a print version for a relatively inexpensive price.
