1999 INAUGURAL CONFERENCE IN SOUTHERN PINESThe first NCCSPA conference was held Nov. 8-9, 1999 in Southern Pines, NC (the birthplace of this organization).
It was a very exciting conference, and some of the highlights are listed below.
1. NCCCSPA is about building a commune, not just an organization! Networking is an important aspect of the NCCSPA.
2. NCCCSPA must embrace quality instruction. Our first priority is that of teaching!
3. NCCCSPA must adapt to developments in technology by embracing change and innovation! We must have a total concept of professional development.
4. NCCCSPA must promote the disciplines of Psychology and Sociology!
5. NCCCSPA must move into the political processes that impacts us at the institutional, state, and national levels!
6. NCCCSPA must maintain relationships with our colleagues in the University system and other professional organizations.
7. NCCCSPA must proceed into the realm of education without barriers - physical, racial, socioeconomic - in order to impact students' lives and help them build a future!
